Aadhar is not compulsory for school admissions and banks : SC

The Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday the Center’s flagship aadhar scheme as constitutionally valid but aadhar is not compulsory for school admissions and banks. The wife judge Constitution bench said aadhar is also not mandatory  for Central Board of Secondary Examination(CBSE) National Eligibilty Cum Entrance Test(NEET) for medical entrance and University Grants Commisions(UGC).

Linking your mobile number with aadhar is also not compulsory. But aadhar is mandatory for PAN card linking. The SC said no person will be denied benefits under social welfare scheme because of failure of Authentication through aadhar.

“Dignity of rights and individuals can’t be based on algorithm, rights of the 2 billion people cannot be tested as mere contract,” said justice Chandrachud.
